The Best of SS22 Trends

From bold pops of colour, to the return of the mini skirt, and a trip through the 90s, there is a optimistic spirit to the SS22 season that you can add to your closet now.

At Reluxe, we are all about the forever pieces, the investment buys, and finding those treasures that you just, well, love. So to talk about seasonal trends might feel a bit contradictory, but hear us out. The collections that designers show on the runways will dictate the style mood of the rest of the year and beyond, and how you want to dress. But of course, for most it isn’t about buying the actual look, instead it is about adding a new shape or colour that will instantly update your wardrobe. Which is why we have selected the three best SS22 trends, with the pieces to buy now and how to wear them…

Bright and beautiful

This is the season to embrace colour, and as much of it as you are comfortable in. Follow the lead of Proenza Schouler and Balenciaga, and brave a hot column of colour in dresses. But if head-to-toe sunny shades are not for you, pick separates that pair easily with denim and tailoring – coloured knits are a good starting point. And if you are just about dipping your toe in, play safer with brilliant accessories, as colourful bags and shoes will literally put spring in your step.

Slightly Naughty 90s

There is no denying it, the 90s (and early 00s) are back for 2022, and to be honest, we are delighted to welcome its return. But this isn’t about grunge, it’s about a sensuality and sexiness. More of a reveal than a cover up, and celebrating body positivity. London designer, Supriya Lele, has inspired many with her cleverly draped pieces, while Loewe gave us a nod to 90s denim. As ever, confidence is key to carry this off, so get as little or a lot of skin on show as you’d like, and enjoy the return of flattering bodycon.

Rising hemlines

While many may raise their eyebrow at the return of rising hemlines, we urge you to get on board. Not just because mini skirts dominated at Prada (and if it is good enough for Prada, then…), but because they are much more flattering than you imagine. You just need to find your length. Anything above the knee counts as mini, so anything higher is your choice. Basically anything goes with dresses, but if opting for a skirt, pair with a loose knit, or oversized shirt, to balance proportions, and most importantly…tights are totally acceptable and don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.
