As founder and stylist Clare Richardson styles her second Reluxe edit — exclusive to MATCHESFASHION — on herself and four friends, the women share memories of their most-cherished preloved pieces.

The vintage bride

‘I recently got married and wore vintage gowns throughout the weekend. One was an incredible pale-blue chiffon dress from Galliano’s Iced Maidens collection. I felt like a wonderful gothic mermaid in it.’

Shopping Reluxe

‘I bought an asymmetric red tulle and lace gown by Galliano for DIOR earlier this year. Light as a feather with all that sumptuous tulle, yet sheer enough to still be sexy, as opposed to princessy. It’s very Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice.’

Dream find

‘I’m always on the lookout for Tom Ford for YSL or Gucci because he understands the female form, how to exaggerate and enhance it in a way that feels both sexy and empowering at the same time.’

Greta Bellamacina

Poet, actress and filmmaker, London.

My favourite Reluxe piece

‘On the shoot I wore a beautiful Chanel dress with black lace details and the signature camellia flower motif which I absolutely loved and could imagine wearing forever.’

Inherited dresses

‘Florence Welch once sent me a package of beautiful vintage dresses that she had been collecting over the years and thought would suit me. I wore her pale-peach dress in a film I just made called Tell That to the Winter Sea, which felt really special.’

Selling on Reluxe

‘I sold a pair of Miu Miu heels that I had bought a while ago but were too big. I think I tried to go out in them once, but they ended up in my handbag all night and I walked home bare foot.’

Selling on Reluxe

‘I had this really amazing oversized, khaki Burberry trench that I loved but I ended up not really wearing. It was in perfect condition, so I showed Clare, she actually used it for a Reluxe shoot then she put it online and it sold.’

Inherited tailoring

‘When my grandad passed away seven years ago, I raided his wardrobe. One double-breasted navy blazer with gold buttons just fits so well. It’s amazing to know that I’m wearing his clothes and that they haven't gone to waste.’

Reluxe storytelling

‘You’re not always looking for a particular item so it’s nice to be engaged in a story or edit. Clare’s got some really iconic pieces, fashion history that you may have forgotten about, and continues the ethos with eco-friendly packaging.’

Laura Bailey

Vogue contributing editor, model, photographer and Save The Children ambassador, London

My Reluxe browsing history

‘Recently Gucci and Hermès silk scarves have caught my eye – I love to wear them in my hair, Jackie O style – and I’m also drawn to the Completedworks x Relove earrings.’

A preloved piece that got away

‘I miss my perfect sea-blue Celine trench with perfect pockets and an oversized hood, sadly stolen at a party. I’m always keeping half an eye out for its replacement.’

Biggest Reluxe splurge

‘A perfect pale-blue Chanel suit, I am guessing from the early 1990s. I feel like I’m in a 1960s French movie when I wear it, with oversized shades and Deneuve slingback heels.’

"I truly believe that the future of fashion is circular; I want people to see these amazing treasures and investment pieces and realise they can buy into circular fashion and get incredible pieces."

Clare Richardson

Founder and stylist, London.

Friends and fans

‘The women I cast for the shoot have been part of the Reluxe journey as fans of the brand, customers and sellers. They are women with amazing style, doing interesting things, and with something to say. I wanted to show how real women can wear pre-loved and how it can look amazing, chic and cool and still be second hand.’

The second MATCHESFASHION x Reluxe edit

‘This second edit is full of treasures, from beautiful Céline designs by Phoebe Philo to Chanel investment pieces. They will stand the test of time in your wardrobe, and they won’t date. I truly believe that the future of fashion is circular; I want people to see these amazing treasures and investment pieces and realise they can buy into circular fashion and get incredible pieces.’

Add to basket

‘There is a beautiful white Chloé dress that is so pretty and floaty. I adore the Celine leopard knit and studded skirt too – I definitely want both in my wardrobe. The floral Celine print top from SS15 is a must for me with black trousers; so easy to wear but fun.’
